Elon Musk is going to be the first trillionaire soon. Not that it is important — once you get more than a few zeros, who cares? (right? right?) I wonder how many folks emailed Bezos about this.

Enough about the money already, the topic I wanted to share today was something Jeff Bezos had mentioned in an interview (from a long time ago). He mentioned that he does not worry about this quarter’s results because they were baked in a long time ago. What he worries about is five quarters away.

He uses a three-part, big categories to help him decide on whether to pursue a path. For example, at that point in time, his three guiding principles or questions were — a. My customers would always want it faster b. My customer would always want it cheaper c. My customer would always want more options. The reason he chose these principles was that they were universally true. His customers would never ask for something to be delayed for delivery. These tenets would guide any decision-making.
