My hometown is one of those villages in southern India. It used to take 8 hours to reach a hospital in the big city but we did have local doctors who helped a lot… in the last decade, with the construction of highways, the time has drastically cut down (3-4 hours ) but I also noticed stronger reluctance in local doctors to treat.
